The most popular iPad apps have been unsurprisingly game apps. With the larger screen and hardy processor, the iPad is stunning when compared to the PSP, DS, or iPhone games. We can’t say the same when the iPad is compared against the laptop or desktop graphics. Here are some fun games that deserve some play time.

N.O.V.A. ($9.99)

This Halo-like game looks pretty good on the big iPad screen, however, the resolution is not the best since it wasn’t developed specifically for the iPad. The game loads pretty fast and runs smoothly, but the user interface is not customized for the iPad, so it doesn’t scale very well from the iPhone. Most of the controls are within reach of the thumbs, but it can get tricky when reaching for the gun to reload or launching a grenade.

Mirror’s Edge ($12.99)
This is one of the best iPad games out there that’s worth the price. With the gorgeous full screen 3D graphics and intuitive swipe interface it’s easy to see why this will become favorite game. The speed runs and great split-screen multiplayer features plus the 14 multi-part levels will provide hours of entertainment.

Touchgrind HD ($7.99)
Touchgrind is a favorite among iPhone users. This game takes awhile to learn, but it’s provides a ton of enjoyment. The jury is still out on whether the extract $3 (as compared to the iPhone app) is worth the larger views (same graphics with a wider viewpoint) and split screen multiplayer features.

Real Racing HD ($9.99)
This racing game is fun and mimic the thrill of racing. The price is doubled as compared to the iPhone app, but you get in-depth career mode, additional tracks and cars. The graphics are stunning and the controls on the iPad are nicely done. Racing fans will likely pony up the extra money for the unique experience.

Scrabble ($9.99)
Playing Scrabble on the iPad is pretty cool, especially when you can pair up a couple iPhones (running free Tile Rack apps) and join in with the iPad over Bluetooth or WiFi. Since the computer is doing all the work, it really speeds up the game.

Flight Control HD ($4.99)
If you are a fan of anything that flies then this game is for you. The beautiful large-screen menus and great multiplayer feature is hard to resist. Anyone can play this adventure game as it’s easy to set up and play games.

AirCoaster XL ($1.99)
Imagine paying one price to for a life time of roller coaster rides! Ok, it doesn’t feel the same, but for pocket change, you can ride the virtual roller coaster till you virtually puke. The graphics are the best, but get to build crazy rail systems with the game’s repsonsive 3D engine with ease.

Asphalt 5 ($6.99)
Looking for ways to race legally without worry about cops or physical damage? This racing game is great for racing enthusiasts. Asphalt 5 allow you to play by yourself or challenge strangers with a Gamelofe Live account. There’s some music control hiccups if you want to play from your personal music library, but overall this game is well designed.

Diner Dash Grilling Green ($4.99)
This addictive and stressful game turns the boring jobs into a fun way to waste a few hours. If you ever wonder (or relive) how it feels to wait tables, then this is up your alley. The graphics are nothing to write home about, but definite better than the iPhone cousin and the additional screen real estate prevents moving things in the wrong place (a nuisance on the iPhone).

Civilization Revolution ($12.99)
Civilization Revolution on the iPad has an elabrate tutorial and even though the game is a bit complex for most folks, it’s actually easy to follow through. For those anxious world conquer wannabes, the bigger screen provide an unmatched experience as compared to the iPhone version.
